Background

SketchUp is a suite of products that include SketchUp Pro Desktop, a 3D modeling computer program for a broad range of drawing and design applications — including architectural, interior design, industrial and product design, landscape architecture, civil and mechanical engineering, theatre, film and video game development. When Trimble purchased the SketchUp from Google in 2012  customers could purchase the software with a one time fee, Trimble wanted to transition to a subscription based model.

In order to do that the entire online purchase process had to be reinvented and the technologies that supported the process had to be update.

My Role

As the lead Business Analysts on the project my first task was to understand their current state, I created extensive swim lane diagrams to map out current state. After several requirement sessions I was able to create future state swim lane diagrams and write a full gap analysis report outlining the steps that had to be taken in order to get to the future subscription based model.

The Deliverables

Future state swim lane diagrams were created to identify the work flow a customer would go though if they purchased online or called into the support centre.

Swim lane diagrams also had to be created to map out how auto renewal changes could occur if a customer opted into them.
